How the digital world enhances the patient experience will be the title of my talk at the Week of Health and Innovation (WHINN) that will take place in Odense (Denmark) from the 9th to the 11th of October. I will be participating in the track ‘How is digital technology affecting our approach to prevention’ together with Dr Victoria Betton (@VictoriaBetton), an innovator in the approach of mental health with digital technologies, and Soren Schultz Hansen (@Soren_Schultz), an expert in digital natives and digital transformation.

In my talk I will address how being a patient in 2018 is completely different from what is was twenty years ago. The digital world has opened up a wide range of opportunities for patients regarding information, communication and peer-to-peer support. And I will emphasise how patients with rare diseases benefit even more as the online world helps them to connect with peers and to access knowledge hard to find in the physical world.

WHINN is one of the top digital health events in the Nordic countries and it gathers professionals working in healthcare innovation. Some of the hot topics that will be discussed this year are the hospitals of the future (“health factories or wellness facilities?”), how digital technologies can support a good life with dementia or how to create personalised experiences in treatment and care. You can follow the conversation around the conference on Twitter following the account @WHINN_DK and the hashtag #WHINN

*I thank HIMSS Europe for having proposed me as a speaker in WHINN.
